King Charles once became so emotional during one of Prince William and Prince Harry's rows that he issued a desperate plea, according to his youngest son.

Relations between the two princes have been fraught for a number of years, with both taking different paths with their young families. Harry, who left for California in 2020, used his memoir Spare to make shocking claims about his time in the royal fold, making numerous allegations about his brother William.

In this bombshell book, Harry, who will this month celebrate his 40th birthday, painted a striking picture of his and William's relationship. He went as far to describe 'Willy' as his 'beloved brother and arch nemesis', detailing a complicated bond steeped in jealousy and, at times, even physical violence.

William, 42, is said to be 'devastated' with Harry's repeated airing of palace laundry, and the siblings apparently haven't spoken since the funeral of their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth back in 2022.

Harry writes in his book that in the previous spring, after burying their grandfather Prince Philip, the two princes and their father took a walk around their Windsor estate, near Frogmore Cottage, and it's here where things escalated once more.

Recalling the alleged dispute, Harry explained that he'd "tried to explain [his] side of things", remembering how he'd felt "nervous, fighting to keep [his] emotions in check, while also striving to be succinct and precise".

Although he'd "vowed not to let this encounter devolve into another argument", Harry quickly realised that "Pa and Willy had their parts to play, and they'd come ready for a fight". According to Harry, every time he "ventured a new explanation, started a new line of thought, one or both of them would cut [him] off".

Noting how "Willy in particular didn't want to hear anything", Harry claimed his elder brother "shut [him] down several times". He added: "He and I began sniping, saying some of the same things we'd said for months - years". Things ended up getting so 'heated' that Charles, now 75, felt the need to intervene in his sons' row, raising his hands and declaring, 'Enough!', before issuing a devastating plea.

Charles is reportedly still holding out hope for a family reconciliation

Harry wrote: "He stood between us, looking up at our flushed faces: 'Please, boys - don't make my final years a misery'. His voice sounded raspy, fragile."

Sadly, the following years seem to have done nothing to cool tempers between William and Harry, who recently attended the funeral of their uncle Lord Robert Fellowes while maintaining a distance. While Charles still holds out hope of a reconciliation, it's been reported that Prince William will be far less likely to budge in terms of welcoming Harry back into the fold.
