Catfish And The Bottlemen have enraged their Irish fans by cancelling their Dublin gig at the last minute.

The BRIT Award-winning indie rockers were scheduled to be perform at the RDS Simmonscourt in south Dublin on Saturday night for what would be the band's first Irish gig in five years.

However, just after 6.45pm yesterday evening, about 15 minutes before doors were due to open at the venue, promoters MCD Productions posted a statement from the Welsh band announcing that the show was cancelled “due to artist illness”.

The band said: “We regret to inform you that tonight’s show is cancelled due to artist illness.

“Refunds are available from point of purchase. Apologies to all the fans who have travelled to the show today and for any inconvenience caused.”

Irish fans took to social media to express their disappointment, with some hitting out at the band for the ‘absolute joke’ of pulling out of the gig at such short notice.

"Drove down from Belfast earlier today, spent 200 quid on a hotel, to find out 10 mins before the fucking gate opens. Pathetic," wrote one disgruntled fan on X.

Another person added: "4 of us flown over from Bmouth for this. Hotel rooms, flights, all for f**k all. And spare us the illness BS. You don’t find that out 10mins before doors."

While a third said: "I've always liked Catfish and the bottlemen right but cancelling a show 10 mins before the doors open actually takes the piss. At that point they should refund everyone's commute expenses, especially the ones that flew from the UK."

Some fans only found out that the show had been cancelled as they were queueing up to enter the venue, with one person writing on X: "We are outside the f**king gate, with 1000s more, so f**king lousy.

Another person said they "got the notification while walking to the venue," adding that it was a "disgrace to cancel at the time the event starts."

Catfish And The Bottlemen formed in 2007 and in 2016, they took home the Brit Award for best British breakthrough act.

The band, who are known for the songs Longshot and Showtime, are due to travel to Australia and New Zealand in September for several gigs, before playing shows in the US throughout October and November.
