The Wolfe Tones have listed playing support to Oasis at Croke Park next summer as their dream gig.

Songwriter Brian Warfield spoke about the prospect just weeks after the folk band drew record crowds at Electric Picnic.

He said: “The main ambition for the future is Croke Park with Oasis. That would put the icing on the cake.”

He explained that there are no confirmed plans, but they have voiced that they would love to take on the challenge.

He added: “I don’t know. We’ve already created an interest that we would love to do it. I guess it’s up to them and their management. We would just do our spot opening up for them and they would be part of their spot.

“People want to see Oasis and they might want to see The Wolfe Tones. They would want to see each of us doing our own thing.”

One supporter speculated: “It has been confirmed that Kneecap and the Wolfe Tones will be supporting Oasis for their Irish dates in Croke Park next summer.”

A second person said: “Hear me out.. Oasis.. should be supported by the Wolfe Tones.. And play 50 consecutive nights in Croke Park”.

Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has previously shared videos of The Wolfe Tones and pronounced himself a fan of the band and of trad.
