Liam Gallagher and his brother, Noel, sealed Oasis' longed for reunion during a dramatic late night phone call.

Fans on the Britpop legends were sent into a frenzy on Sunday when Liam, 51, dedicated the Oasis track, Half The World Away, to his estranged brother Noel, 57, during his headline set at the Reading Festival. The singer also flashed a huge Oasis sign on the screen behind him on stage with the date: 27.08.24 and the time 8.am.

The siblings from Manchester didn't speak for 15 years following a violent bust-up in Paris before Oasis split, in which Liam reportedly 'wielded a guitar like an axe', almost knocking Noel out.

However, they appeared to have buried the hatchet - for the sake of the band. A source told The Sun : "Noel and Liam are never going to be the best of friends but they want to bring Oasis back for the fans.

"They aren’t getting any younger and the demand is huge. They decided it was now or never. Noel dug his heels in for a long time but has finally caved and agreed to return. He spoke to Liam on the phone and they are on the same page. They know this reunion will go down in music history."

With rumours that Oasis are now set to headline Glastonbury next year as well as playing various gigs in London and Manchester, Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE, chairman of talent agency InterTalent, told the publication they could make a staggering £50m (€59m) each from a tour and any residual deals.

He said: "With tickets, sponsorship, merchandise and filming, I would predict an income for Noel and Liam of over £50 million each. This is a tour that could easily gross over £400 million (€473m)."

It comes after the warring siblings' rivalry boiled over on August 28, 2009, when lead guitarist and songwriter, Noel, quit the band ahead of a gig in Paris.

As Oasis prepared to go onstage at the Rock En Seine festival in France, an argument broke out, with Liam wielding Noel’s guitar around “like an axe”. "He nearly took my face off with it," Noel said after that the show was cancelled, along with the rest of the tour.

The explosive row in France saw Liam lob a plum at his older brother, which splattered against the dressing room wall, shortly before they were due on stage. "Part of me wishes it did end like that - 'plum throws plum'," Noel told Radio X.

He continued: "He storms out of the dressing room and on the way out, he picked up a plum and threw it across the dressing room and it smashes against the wall." Liam then began "swinging" a guitar, which Noel says was a "real unnecessary violent act".

Noel reckoned he didn't want to leave Oasis - it was simply that he could no longer continue being in a band with his brother. He said: "I'd never had enough of Oasis - I'd had enough of him."
