Kerry Katona's forgotten romance with Emily In Paris star as loved-up snaps emerge
Kerry and Lucien dated after their Big Brother stint, but their relationship wasn’t to last as their 12-year age gap turned into a major bone of contention
Kerry Katona might be loved up with fiance Ryan Mahoney but more than a decade ago she was head over heels with a huge Hollywood star as pictures of their romance emerge.
The former Atomic Kitten singer has just returned from holiday with Ryan, where she admitted she was considering moving abroad after having such a blissful time. Kerry explained she's fed up of the "gloomy" weather and can't wait to be back in the sunshine. She revealed she was seriously thinking about moving her whole family away from the UK. Kerry told Closer: "Now we're back home for holiday, I'm realising how sick I am of the UK. I want to move to Spain and I've been looking at house. I just want to get out of the UK. I feel so much happier abroad and it's nicer to go out with the kids and do things over there."
Kerry explained "it wasn't just about the weather" and she was concerned about the recent riots. She said she was "sick" of the UK not "getting the support we need". She added: " Keir Starmer has pledged £84m for projects in Africa and the Middle East and I think it's great we're helping other countries, but what is he doing for the people of the UK? Or for the homeless and the NHS?"

The reality star told fans she was putting place plans to move away from the UK last year, with the hopes of starting a new life in the sun in 2024. However, she revealed she was forced to abandon these plans after taking into consideration the needs of her five children. Earlier this year, Kerry wrote in his OK! column: "We've been thinking about moving to London or Spain, but we've decided to stay in Cheshire. DJ is happy at school and doesn't want to move, which is important because I want her to have stability."
However, life was very different for the devoted mum after she met Emily In Paris star Lucien Laviscount in the Celebrity Big Brother House in 2011. Lucien’s career has skyrocketed since he bagged the role in the hit Netlfix show, and he’s even been tipped as being in the running to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond. Kerry and Lucien dated after their Big Brother stint, but their relationship wasn’t to last as their 12-year age gap turned into a major bone of contention.
Their fresh-faced throwback snaps from the more-than-decade-old New Magazine shoot show the couple looking very cosy. But in a re-surfaced interview from 2011, Kerry joked she didn't think she was Lucien's type and admitted the age-gap was "holding them back". She spilled at the time: "Lucien has it all – he's a geek, intelligent, loveable, great for cuddles, understanding. He is everything all rolled into one. But I don't think I'm his type.”
“I've got four kids and he's 19. My eldest is 10 – her step-dad would only be nine years older than her. I'm sure I could get locked up for that! If he was a little older, then yes, I'd destroy him! The age gap is definitely holding us back," she confessed at the time. The pair's romance appeared to be a distant memory for both them and fans – until their photoshoot with OK! magazine resurfaced online and went viral earlier this year. Fans were left surprised to learn of their 12-year age gap romance as details of their previous fling went viral.
Kerry spoke out on the recent fan reaction to her and Lucien's connection and revealed the actor was "charming" and "talented". She told OK! magazine: "Apparently my OK! magazine cover from 2011 with my former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Lucien Laviscount has gone viral on social media! Lucien was very charming and obviously easy on the eye, and it was all just a bit of fun."
Following his time in the Big Brother House, Lucien's acting career blossomed with him undertaking his most recognisable role in 2021 of Alfie in Emily in Paris. Kerry revealed she has watched the actor in the Netflix series and complimented the actor. "I have seen Lucien as Alfie in Emily In Paris on Netflix – he’s a great actor, so it’s no wonder he is being tipped to be the next Bond," she said. "People were even joking that I could have made a good Bond girl – and that just made me giggle!"
Kerry is now engaged to marry her personal trainer beau and recently revealed plans to lose three stone before her wedding. The mum-of-five and her husband-to-be are set to tie the knot this year, after getting engaged in 2020 as Ryan popped the question during a trip for Kerry's 40th birthday.
