Derry City and Shelbourne will collide in a mouthwatering FAI Cup quarter-final clash next month, with both sides chasing a league and cup double.

In a repeat of the 2022 final, the Candystripes will host Damien Duff's side at the Brandywell in the tie of the round.

Derry defeated Shels 4-0 at the Aviva Stadium 21 months ago, but currently find themselves two points behind the Dublin club at the top of the League of Ireland Premier Division.

The sides played out a 0-0 draw at Tolka Park earlier this month and won't meet again in the league until the very last round of games on November 1.

The other two meetings between them in the league this season also finished level as they played out a 0-0 draw at Tolka in April before it finished 1-1 between them at the Brandywell in May.

Tuesday's draw for the last eight also threw up an all Dublin clash, with UCD hosting last year's runners-up Bohemians, while an all First Division tie sees Wexford face Treaty United.

Meanwhile, 2005 winners Drogheda United will aim to take a step towards their first final since 2013 when they travel to face First Division side Athlone Town, who are currently second in the second tier, 15 points behind leaders Cork City.

The FAI Cup quarter-final ties are due to be played on the weekend of September 15.
