Dublin's Kate Sullivan is keen to see Mick Bohan and his management team back on board in 2025.

Bohan has, by a considerable distance, been the most successful manager the Dublin ladies footballers have ever had having masterminded five All-Ireland titles in his eight seasons at the helm.

Having served so long in the role, speculation surrounds his position at the end of every season now, win or lose, with the Dublin players and management still smarting from a surprise All-Ireland quarter-final loss to Galway.

Sullivan missed that game with a hamstring injury, though has regained full fitness for the club campaign with St Sylvester’s.

She said: “I suppose everyone wants to get through the club championship healthy, take a couple of months to see where their heads are for next year – management-wise and player-wise as well.

“Mick’s been there since I came in, as a 17 or 18-year-old, and has made huge strides for ladies football and Dublin as well. And the management team that he brought in around him would obviously be a big loss, so I would love to see him and the rest of them back.”

A number of long-serving players will be considering their futures also, and whatever call Bohan makes is likely to have an impact.

“I suppose there’s a handful of players there that have that decision to make. Some of them have families and work/life and stuff like that. So they might [wait and] see until after club championship, if they can get through that healthy enough and see how their body is then come the New Year and make that decision.

“But it’s obviously a tough one, to step away from something you’ve been involved in for so many years.”

Sullivan’s clubmate Sinead Ahearne is certainly one who will be mulling over whether to commit for what would be an incredible 23rd season.

Sullivan added: “She was a bit unlucky with injury at the start of this year and got herself back then towards the end of the season so, again, it'll be a case of see how the club championship goes first and if it fits into her lifestyle next year.

“Like, as I said, it's very hard to give up something that you've been involved in for so many years. I'd say that will be a tough decision for her to have to make.”
