Fans of The Office are in luck as a new Australian update on the hit comedy series is set to land on Prime Video in October.

Prime Video announced Monday that the Australian Original The Office will debut all eight episodes October 18 on the streamer while also revealing a first-look image at The Inbetweeners 2 star Felicity Ward as the franchise’s first-ever female lead.

In the upcoming series, titled The Office, Ward plays new boss Hannah Howard, managing director of Flinley Craddick packaging company.

When she gets news from Head Office that they will be shutting down her branch and making everyone work from home, she goes into survival mode, making promises she can’t keep in order to keep her “work family” together.

The staff of Flinley Craddick indulge her and must endure Hannah’s outlandish plots as they work toward the impossible targets that have been set for them.

Starring alongside Felicity Ward is Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, Shari Sebbens, and Josh Thomson.

The original The Office was created, written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, with Ricky starring in the series as lead character David Brent. It followed the day to day lives of office staff in the Slough branch of the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company.

The show was released in 2001 and ran for two six-episode season, followed by a two-part Christmas special, and went on to become one of the most successful British comedy series.

Following its success, an American adaptation was released in 2005, starring Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, and Jenna Fischer. The U.S. version of The Office ran for 9 seasons and was nominated for 44 the PrimeTime Emmy Award.

Aside from the upcoming Australian spin-off, The Office has aired 14 separate instalments across the world, just proving how big of a success the mockumentary is across the globe.

There's been versions in Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel and Poland. As well as these, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sweden and the United States have also joined in with their own versions.
