A model is facing serious charges after allegedly confessing to police that she was high on "pink cocaine" when she crashed her Mercedes into other vehicles at high speed in downtown Miami, in a tragic incident that left two people dead and another two injured.

When police arrived on the scene, the model was so intoxicated she told the officers that she was from the future and had a crystal ball. On August 10, Maecee Marie Lathers, 24, drove her white Mercedes through a red light, causing her to collide with a black Range Rover and a silver Suzuki. She's now facing charges of driving without a licence and leaving the scene of a crash, resulting in death or serious injuries, according to Miami court records.

During her bond hearing, Florida's 11th Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer condemned Lathers' actions, citing a report: "She's an absolute danger to the community based on killing or driving when she shouldn't have been in a car, and she's clearly impaired based on her statements. And if it wasn't for the citizens or witnesses nearby who stopped her, she would have completely fled."

Lathers' attorney maintains his client isn't a menace to society, spotlighting her academic successes and her life in Florida spanning nearly two years. However, his client faces accusations linked to her alleged high-speed antics on North Miami Avenue just after 6.45am on August 10, which caused a lethal multi-car pileup.

A passenger in the back of a Suzuki sedan tragically lost their life at the scene, while the driver, Abraham Ismael, was extracted from the mangled car and later succumbed to his injuries at Jackson Memorial Hospital. His wife, Juanita Hernandez, who was seated next to him, is currently receiving medical treatment, reports the Mirror US.

The individual behind the wheel of the Range Rover involved in the incident has also been admitted to hospital, as confirmed by officials.

Caught on CCTV, the social media influencer, known for her Instagram presence, was seen walking away from the crash site before being brought back by witnesses. Upon their arrival, police suspected she was intoxicated, with Glazer reporting: "She advised she was under the influence of '2c,' a known party drug, and that she was from the future and had a crystal ball."

The court heard that the woman's driving privileges were revoked indefinitely as of January 16. Prosecutors are currently awaiting a toxicology report to decide if further charges will be pressed.

In the wake of the devastating accident, Hernandez expressed that her injuries have left her unable to work and lamented that her husband's death has turned their 16-year-old son's world upside down. In an emotional plea on GoFundMe, she wrote in Spanish: "I am now unable to work due to my injuries, and the boy's life has been turned upside down.

"His mother, who lives in Nicaragua, suffers from Parkinson's disease and is now not only grieving but also left without the financial support her son provided."

Lathers is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with bail set at a hefty $140,000, as per jail records.
