Ian Poulter sends message to PGA Tour as LIV Golf loyalties clear
Ian Poulter left the PGA Tour and DP World Tour to join LIV Golf just over two years ago, and since making the Saudi switch the Majesticks captain has not looked back
Ian Poulter admitted that there is 'not a lot to miss' when it comes to the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, two years on from his move to LIV Golf.
Poulter became one of the marquee names to make the LIV switch in 2022, having been a part of the initial wave of defectors alongside the likes of Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. Like his fellow LIV stars, Poulter's move came at a cost after being suspended by the PGA Tour.
His move ultimately cost him a spot on his home tour too, having resigned his DP World Tour membership after being fined and suspended for competing in 'conflicting' LIV events.

Despite the consequences, it appears the Ryder Cup stalwart is more than happy with his decision. "What do I miss about DP World Tour and PGA Tour? Well, there's not a lot I miss," he told Golf Monthly. "I'm doing the same thing I was doing on LIV. The format change is different, obviously."
Poulter did however go on to admit that the one thing he does miss about not competing on his former tours is the players he used to play alongside. "I do miss some friends," he added. "The guy you would have seen for 20 weeks a year, which obviously you don't really see them anymore.
"So that probably the only thing I would say I miss." Poulter is one of 15 captains on the LIV roster, co-captaining the Majesticks alongside two of his former Ryder Cup teammates in Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson. Like Poulter, Westwood and Stenson have also handed in their memberships with the DP World Tour.

Arguably the biggest loss from their decision to walk away is giving up their eligibility to represent Europe at the Ryder Cup, with players needing to be members of the Wentworth-based circuit to be included. While their playing days may well be behind them on the 12-man team, there is no doubt all three would have been included in some capacity away from the course.
Stenson had been named as European captain for the 2023 Ryder Cup, but was stripped of his role after joining LIV. While a proposed peace deal between the PGA Tour and DP World Tour and LIV looms, Poulter believes his days on the Ryder Cup stage are over amid the fallout.
“Too much happened last time,” Poulter told Gulf News earlier this year. “Too much was said and that’s extremely disappointing from my perspective with the way certain people were treated and spoken about with reference to the Ryder Cup, especially when certain people have committed a lot of their life to work extremely hard for that product.
“So, the way it stands right now, with the current people that run that level of the organisation, things would have to change for me to be involved. That’s from an everything perspective, I’m not needed, they didn’t need me last time.”
