Today's ceremony occurs at the Stade de France with festivities kicking off at 8 pm. RTE Two will show live coverage of the event in Ireland.
Irish stars Fintan McCarthy and Mona McSharry have been selected as Ireland's flagbearers for the closing ceremony after their medal-winning exploits at these games while other flagbearers include France's Antoine Dupont and Team USA's Katie Ledecky.
Olympic champion Daniel Wiffen was originally named as a flagbearer alongside McSharry but has been forced to withdraw due to illness.
As is tradition for Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies, organisers aren't giving anyway thing away but there will be a number of traditional features to tonight's show.
The Closing Ceremony will feature the athlete parade, thanking of volunteers, medal ceremony for the women's marathon, the extinguishing of the Olympic Flame and proclamation of the end of the Games, and the traditional handover of the Olympic Flag from the Mayor of Paris to the Mayor of Los Angeles.
Pre-taped performances from Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are expected in the Closing Ceremony as part of the handover to Los Angeles 2028 while it is heavily rumoured that Tom Cruise will perform an abseil stunt during the ceremony.
