The Chase star Shaun Wallace has addressed rumours that he's been sacked from the ITV quiz show, revealing the real reason why he sometimes disappears from screens
Shaun Wallace, also known as the Dark Destroyer on ITV's hit quiz show The Chase, has finally addressed rumours that he's been sacked from ths show.
The 2004 Mastermind champion and successful barrister clarified the situation in a recent episode of The Hearing - A Legal Podcast. Shaun, 64, explained that his occasional absences from the show are due to his legal commitments.
He said: "If I've got a long trial, then that will take precedence over my filming, and the Chase know that. But I've then got to make up my other episodes later on in the series.

"So when people see me... not seen me on TV for a long... 'Has he been sacked?' No, just back to my legal career."
Shaun, who was called to the Bar in November 1984, has been working in the legal profession for more than three decades.
In an interview with New Zealand Woman's Weekly in July, he expressed gratitude for his TV role but acknowledged it "could all end tomorrow".
His fame from The Chase, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, has opened up other opportunities, including hosting quizzes on cruise ships, reports the Express.
However, he noted that in court, people "only care about Shaun Wallace the barrister". Shaun has shown a deep commitment to his dual careers, once remarking that he's "married" to his work life.
Back in July, he offered insights into his personal life choices by stating that not having children was a "conscious" decision, influenced by his early days as a "young struggling barrister".
He said he "didn't think it would be right" to have a child when "you're trying to climb to the top of that greasy pole".
In 2022, Shaun took his professional dedication up a notch by participating in the barristers' strike, where legal eagles took to the streets protesting for better pay.
