Kildare have moved to appoint Brian Flanagan as their new senior football manager on a four-year term.

The former Kildare player's nomination will be brought forward for ratification at the start of September.

Flanagan guided the Lilywhite's U20 side to All-Ireland glory in 2023 after successive Leinster titles in 2022 and 2023.

He is set to succeed Glenn Ryan in the Kildare hot seat after Ryan stepped away from the role in June following a Tailteann Cup quarter-final loss to Laois.

Aidan O'Rourke, who steered Armagh to this year's All-Ireland minor final, will be part of Flanagan's coaching ticket, along with former Kildare players Damien Hendy and Daryl Flynn.

A statement from Kildare GAA read: “Kildare GAA is pleased to announce that Brian Flanagan will be proposed by the Management Committee as the new Kildare Senior Football Manager for a four-year term.

“His nomination will be brought forward for ratification at the September County Board Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, September 3rd.

“Kildare GAA extends its best wishes to Brian and his management team.”
