A flight attendant has shared the scary reason of why you should never inflate your life jacket inside the airplane. The cabin crew member who works for TUI often shares about her career on TikTok.

In the video, 'Mrs Miva' can be seen putting on the life jacket as she explains to passengers what to do in case of emergency. The video caption explains that if you put your life jacket on during the flight, it can cause more harm than good.

It read: "Did you know, incase of an emergency water landing, this could save your life. Never inflate your life jacket inside the plane.

"Water could enter the cabin and you can't move freely. An inflated life jacket will always guide you upwards. The safest thing you should do is hold your breath and swim out of the plane. Take the life jacket with you and inflate when you are outside of the plane."

The video garnered 1,100 likes and plenty of comments – and many appreciated the advice. One responder wrote: "Thank you for the information."

Another said: "I'm studying to be an aircraft mechanic, but at some point I'll also become a flight attendant. Thanks for all the information!"

This isn't the only flight secret to go viral recently. Earlier this year, another flight attendant revealed an easy way flyers could help guard against dreaded blood clots.

Taking to the social network, she shared a video of her wiggling her foot. Text overlaid on the clip said: "Tip when flying that everybody should do every hour on flight. Do the alphabet technique to prevent swollen ankles and DVTs (deep vein thrombosis) especially on long haul flights."

Captioning the clip she added: "To prevent blood clots during long flights, consider incorporating a few simple strategies: First, remember the alphabet exercise – trace each letter with your foot to promote circulation.

"Second, wear compression socks, which help maintain blood flow and reduce the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Finally, make it a point to stand up and walk around every hour or so if possible."

Cici said these tips would help "enhance comfort" and reduce the risk of blood clots "significantly". And fans were quick to thank her for the tips.

One wrote: "I wear compression socks and no more leg pain, they are the BEST!" Meanwhile another added: "This is awesome! As someone who works in Vascular Ultrasound, we see sooo many people come in with clots after long flights! This is such important information that most people aren’t aware of!"
