RTÉ viewers were in stitches after a hilarious prank on the hidden camera show The Fear resurfaced on social media.

The side-splitting prank took place at the All-Ireland minor hurling final in 2015 when Tipperary faced off against Galway. Sharing a clip from the comedy show The Fear, which broadcast from 2012 until 2015, a pretend counterfeit jersey inspector, played by Hilary Rose, is going around the crowd to ensure no one has got a fake jersey on.

Unfortunately for one father-son pair, the inspector decides to question them and the legitimacy of the son’s jersey after the pair decides to ask the fake inspector for directions.

Starting off the inspector, dressed quite like a Garda, asks: “Where did you get the jersey?” They engage in a civil back and forth as she asks questions about the jersey and if it is new or old before they ask what the problem is.

“Do you mind taking that off for me, please?” The fake inspector asks as she gets the unsuspecting son to remove his Tipperary jersey before exclaiming: “Yeah, that is a counterfeit one, the stitching is all wrong on that, where did you say get it?”

“I had that from home!” The man professes as the counterfeit inspector examines the jersey.

“We have to stop and check a load of people today,” she replies before asking what detergent the jersey has been washed in, starting to get a bit annoyed the father replies: “I don’t know, Bold or something!”

The inspector continues the line of questioning, asking what degree wash it was put in, before explaining that the jersey isn’t “the official colour”. Turning to a unique feature of the jersey, the prankster asks what the “writing on the front” is.

“It’s Joe McGrath’s signature, it’s signed,” the pair tell her before she explains how she will have to “hang on” to the jersey, to which the exasperated GAA fan pleads: “Ah don’t!”

In a twist, the inspector then produces a small jersey handing it to the man to put on in lieu of the one she confiscated, claiming that it is a brand new official one.

The men protest that the jersey is too small, but the inspector shrugs this off, telling him “Your frame is small enough”. They continue to object, saying how he bought the jersey, but the inspector is quick, asking for a receipt.

After they continue to challenge the inspector, eventually she tells him to “stick that on there now and see how it fits” to which the pranked man squeezes into the tight jersey, protesting that he may rip it.

He then takes the jersey back off and visibly annoyed he asks her if she is taking his Tipp jersey off him, angry that by simply asking for directions he will now lose his signed jersey but Rose interjects to reveal they are on a hidden camera show.
