Simon Cowell has decided to cut his Dublin auditions down to just one day as he searches for a new boy band, we can reveal.

The former X Factor judge announced earlier this month he would hold auditions in Dublin across two days on Sunday, July 28 and Monday, July 29.

But after a poor turnout of just 40 people in Liverpool, according to reports, Cowell has cut his audition days in Dublin to just one day and we can reveal the location.

Applause Store announced that Simon will only host one day auditions, on July 28th instead, at The Exo Building, North Wall Quay in Dublin 1 and auditions will be split into two groups – one for boys aged under 18, and another for boys aged over 18.

The poster reads: “***FOR ONE DATE ONLY*** This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to audition in front of Simon Cowell, music industry leaders and a major global entertainment service, in Ireland! If you are, or know any boys, aged around 16-25 with an amazing voice, request an official invitation to one of these unique and amazing open auditions.

“Plus, if you are in a group or an existing boyband, you can all audition too! There are two auditions times. Please select the appropriate time: Boys over 18's: Please arrive from 10am Boys under 18's: Please arrive from 12pm So if you think you have what it takes, or know someone with an incredible voice and would like to potentially audition in front of Simon Cowell, select a date and a member of our casting team will give you a call to tell you more about it.

“This is a non-audience-based production, it is a unique open audition opportunity.”

A rep has been contacted for comment as to why Simon has cut his time in Dublin to just one day.

Auditions kicked off in Liverpool on July 6 but it appears that only a small number of men lined up at the Albert Dock venue.

According to The Sun, just a handful of pop wannabes turned up, with the queue never amounting to more than 40 people.

Despite this, Simon viewed the weekend as a success. Taking to Instagram, the TV judge shared his excitement about the journey ahead.

"Liverpool. Thank you! I knew we had to come to your city and you really did deliver," Simon penned. "Thank you to every single one of you for turning up, and showing me and my team the huge amount of talent out there. It's very inspiring to see how many of you really want this.

"No matter what, we will see everyone who shows up for us. Just be yourself!"

Simon also revealed he will ask Louis Walsh to join him in the search for his next big boyband.

Simon told The Hard Shoulder on Newstalk the time is right to find the next big thing.

"Louis [Walsh] has done very well putting bands together historically," he said.

"I signed Westlife - they auditioned for me twice in Dublin. The first time I said no and I think you need to change the line up. Second time he did change the line up slightly and we signed them literally on the spot."

Simon said he wanted to come back to Ireland as it's a great place to find talent.

"Because I've had success in Dublin that was a good reason to come there again," he said.

"Of course we auditioned Niall [Horan] in Dublin for One Direction and he was so good it felt a natural place to go to do this."

Simon said he believes there is plenty of talented people out there.

"I've always believed, right when we started these shows, that if you find enough people there is always going to be a star," he said.

"That doesn't apply to every year but fortunately over the years I think a lot of people got their careers in the same way. You come on a show, people get to know you and that gives you a leg up".

Simon's attempts will be filmed for a "potential documentary series" produced by Box to Box Films. It's been reported that the show will be released on Netflix, although this has not been confirmed.
