The devastated racing commentator John Hunt, who tragically lost his wife and two daughters in a horrifying crossbow attack last week, has relayed a poignant message through a friend.

John Hunt, aged 58, endured the traumatic loss of his wife Carol Hunt, 61 years old, and their two loving daughters, Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, in a terrifying incident at their home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on Tuesday, 9 July. The suspect, Kyle Clifford, 26, was apprehended after an extensive manhunt that took police from Hertfordshire to Enfield, North London, where he was discovered with injuries in the Hilly Fields locality on Wednesday.

The ITV racing commentator Matt Chapman revealed that he has been keeping in touch with the devastated Mr. Hunt following the horrific murders, reports the Mirror. Speaking to the BBC, he intimated that Mr. Hunt "absolutely adored" his family, sharing that Hunt recently shared a message as he continues to come to terms with the tragic event.

Chapman disclosed: "He told me: 'Matty, the message I would tell everyone is you never know when it's going to be the last day you see your family'."

Chapman said that, keeping this in mind, Hunt's six-word advice was to urge others to "make the most of every day". He went on to say: "The message was very clear: make the most of every day because you just don't know."

Mr Hunt and his third daughter, Amy, have released a statement expressing their grief over the loss of three victims, stating on Saturday that their devastation "cannot be put into words". They added: "We would like to thank people for their kind messages and for the support we have received in recent days. These have provided great comfort to us for which we are very grateful.

"As you can imagine, this is an extremely difficult time for us, and we need time and space to come to terms with what has happened and start the grieving process."

Mr Chapman shared that his fellow commentator's primary concern is to ensure his daughter has "no money worries for the rest of her life".

He continued: "John would like nothing more for Amy after these horrific events than a life that is a little less stressful, because life will never be stress-free again."

A fundraiser set up in Mr Hunt's name has since raised £28,000, with hundreds of people sharing messages of support as the two embark on the grieving process.

Mr Chapman expressed that, while the money would not "take the pain away" it might ease their heavy burden. He stated: "It's not going to take their grief away - it's not going to take the pain away or change anything - but it might help them have an easier life."
