Sahith Theegala could be seen joining in the celebration after his fellow PGA Tour golfer, Robert MacIntyre - a Scotsman, won at the Scottish Open in front of an excited home crowd.

MacIntyre put on an incredibly impressive performance during this past weekend's tournament which saw him taking home the title. This prodigious achievement was celebrated with roars flooding the 18th hole from the numerous spectators present.

One particular image that encapsulates this festive spirit was shared largely on social media, showing Theegala caught in the act of celebrations back in the clubhouse, obviously thrilled by MacIntyre's decisive victory.

MacIntyre secured his victory with a very narrow margin of just one shot. He did so by beating Adam Scott to the punch, having followed two shots behind him up until the final three rounds. The last round however, had MacIntyre outfoxing Scott by scoring a birdie from some 20 feet away, which tallied up his winning score.

On social media, a quite jubilant Theegala shared the afore-mentioned picture of himself, specifically captioned with words of congratulation for MacIntyre. In his post he exclaimed: "Huge congrats to @robert1lefty on the win on his home turf. So cool to see him close it out with that epic putt on 18 in front of a massive crowd!"

Theegala didn't stop at merely posting on social media, though. Later on, he personally went to congratulate MacIntyre, extending a handshake while offering these words: "Congrats, bro. That was sick. Good job, man."

Having solidified his status as a well-respected figure both amongst fans and within the realm of golf since joining the tour back in 2020, Theegala - originally hailing from California - is eyeing the spotlight raring for the superb 2024 season he's been having, and is now looking forward to taking part in The Open happening this weekend over in Troon.

Following his emotional victory, which seemed increasingly likely after he scored an eagle on the 17th hole and a birdie on the 18th, MacIntyre described it as the pinnacle of his career so far.

In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, he said: "I've put a lot of work into this. I've changed a lot within the team and I've just worked hard. I wanted The Scottish Open. I got a bit of luck on 16 that you need - a bit of luck to win golf tournaments. I couldn't believe when I heard a sprinkler under my foot where my spike is at and I'm like no way. It was covered and I thought 'I got lucky'. It was meant to be."

He added: "Next week is a new week but I tell you, I'm going to celebrate this with my family, friends, and everyone here. I'm going to celebrate this one hard. We'll pitch up to the Open when we pitch up to the Open."
