Three injured in brawl at Limassol facility for minors

Two minors and a woman were taken to hospital after a brawl on Tuesday between civilians and people staying in a facility for unaccompanied minors in Zakaki, Limassol.
Police said that around 12.30pm a neighbour complained to facility officers about noise and disturbance caused by minors staying there.
After the complaint, minors started hurling stones and other objects towards the neighbour’s house, causing damage to a vehicle parked outside.
Other residents in the area reacted and made their way to the facility, where they clashed with a number of minors.
Police arrived at the scene to restore order.
An ambulance was called to take two minors to Limassol general hospital for examinations.
A woman also arrived at the hospital, saying she had been injured in the incident.
Following the incident, the social welfare services issued a statement, saying that actions were being made to address the incident, pending the results of a police investigation.
All measures, the services added, were being taken in cooperation with the police and the International Organisation for Migration, which is the administrator of the Zakaki facility.
Police remain in the area and are investigating the incident.
