A 63-year-old woman was arrested in Limassol on Friday night on suspicion of having stabbed her husband to death with a kitchen knife.
She reportedly denies having committed the crime and claims her husband injured himself.
Police though said they are investigating a case of premeditated murder.
The woman had called the emergency services to her apartment at around 9.40pm, requesting an ambulance.
The police also attended the scene and found 62-year-old Ukrainian national Vitaly Shostak dead in the living room with a single stab wound in his chest.
Police took a kitchen knife as evidence, while a forensic pathologist visited the apartment to conduct an autopsy and certify Shostak’s death.
The woman was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning and taken into custody. She is expected to appear in court later on Saturday.
