The ski resort in the Bachledová Dolina valley in the High Tatras will soon see the completed construction of a new six-seater cable car named Franková.

The total investment will reach approximately 11 million euros. The management wants to put it into operation this December. The investor also received €4.9 million from the Sports Support Fund, thanks to which a national training center for skiers is being created in Bachledova Dolina.

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Ján Krišanda, stated that this is a pilot project and that they want to support two more resorts in this way.

The general director of Slovakia Travel, Ivana Vala Magátová, pointed out that skiing has a great tradition in Slovakia, but according to her, attention to ski resorts is decreasing. There are 80 in Slovakia, yet the country ranks 10th in Europe regarding the number of mountain transport facilities.

"Eighteen percent of our population ski, which is a very high number. However, it must be said that 80 percent of resort visitors are Slovaks. It is also our task here to devote ourselves more intensively to the promotion of winter resorts and skiing. However, it is necessary to develop the resorts so that they can be used even in the summer months," pointed out Vala Magátová.
