Though it may feel like Christmas is still far away, and the warm weather makes us long for cooler days, it’s never too early to start getting excited about the annual IWCB Charity Christmas Bazaar. This year’s bazaar is set for November 24th at Stará Tržnica, and as we look forward, it’s the perfect time to reflect on one of our most successful events.

The IWCB Charity Christmas Bazaar is a beloved tradition in Bratislava, where various embassies residing in the city come together to sell their national specialties and unique souvenirs. The event is a vibrant celebration, featuring a cultural program and entertainment that brings the community together in the spirit of giving. All the money raised goes to the IWCB charity fund, which supports underprivileged members of our society through a network of NGO beneficiaries.

In 2019, the Charity Christmas Bazaar achieved record-breaking success, with the largest sum ever raised for charities and attendance numbers that exceeded all previous years.

Alica Mozolíková, an active IWCB member who led the Sponsorship Committee that year and currently leads the Slovak Lessons special interest group for IWCB members, shares her memories:

Alica, can you tell us what stands out most about the 2019 Bazaar?

“The atmosphere was absolutely electric. We had an overwhelming response from the community, and it was heartwarming to see how many people came together to support our cause. The generosity of our sponsors and the enthusiasm of the volunteers were truly inspiring.”

What’s your best memory from that event?

“For me, it was seeing the joy on people’s faces – both the visitors and the beneficiaries. Knowing that our efforts were making a real difference in the lives of those in need made all the hard work worthwhile.”

As we prepare for this year’s Bazaar, let’s carry forward the spirit of 2019 and make 2024 another year to remember! We hope to see you all there.
