Three people have been taken to the Mater Dei Hospital after being involved in a traffic accident which occurred at 7AM on Sunday morning.

The accident happened in Triq Dun Karm in Birkirkara and involved two cars, a Honda Fit and Suzuki Swift.

The Honda Fit was being driven by a 72-year-old man from Iklin who was accompanied by a 66-year-old woman, also from Iklin.

The Suzuki Swift was being driven by a 28-year-old man from Zebbug.

All three were admitted into the hospital. The two people in the Honda were certified as having suffered grievous injuries, while the other driver suffered slight injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
