During November 2024, the number of unemployed persons stood at 9,824, decreasing by 1.2 percentage points from the previous month and by 4.4 percentage points when compared to November 2023. While the 25 to 74 age group was the major contributor to the overall level of unemployment, totalling 6,528 persons (66.4%), the number of unemployed youths amounted to 3,297 (33.6%).
In November 2024, the unemployment rate for males stood at 3%, decreasing by 0.1 percentage points when compared to October 2024. Meanwhile, the female unemployment rate stood at 2.9%, remaining stable when compared to the preceding month. The unemployment rate for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) increased to 10.7%, while the rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.2%, remaining stable when compared to October 2024, the NSO said.
