The Nationalist Party has called for the publication of the 17 Black and the Panama Papers inquiry.
The news that the magisterial inquiry into the secret company 17 Black and the Panama Papers has been concluded, "and that several individuals at the heart of Robert Abela's and Joseph Muscat's Government will be taken to court, is yet another confirmation that Robert Abela's Government is one of frodi biss, frodi spiss (fraud only, fraud often)."
The Nationalist Partysaid that it has consistently emphasised from the very beginning that "the Electrogas powerstation is a monument to corruption."
The report of the magisterial inquiry into the Electrogas powerstation must be published by the Attorney General without further delay, "so that the Maltese and Gozitan people can know who stole millions," the PN said.
The PN reiterated that the Electrogas powerstation project was created by the Labour Party "as a vehicle for corruption, with the involvement of the highest-ranking members of the Labour Government, including Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri, who themselves admitted that they always acted according to the instructions of Joseph Muscat."
"These corrupt politicians colluded with business figures and key individuals within the Labour Party, including Yorgen Fenech, Paul Apap Bologna, and Mario Pullicino, to defraud the Maltese and Gozitan people through a contract worth approximately €450 million," the party said.
"Robert Abela has an immediate obligation to take all necessary steps to ensure that what was stolen from the Maltese and Gozitan people through this monument to corruption is returned to them without delay. If Robert Abela fails to take these steps, it will be the Nationalist Party, with the trust of the Maltese and Gozitan people, that will deliver on this promise."
The PN recalled that the magisterial inquiry into the company 17 Black and the Panama Papers began several years ago on its initiative under the leadership of former PN Leader Simon Busuttil, as well as through the efforts of MEP David Casa and the organisation Repubblika, with the assistance of lawyer Jason Azzopardi. "This followed revelations by journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia regarding the existence of the company 17 Black and its links to former Minister Konrad Mizzi and former Chief of Staff Keith Schembri."
