The Labour Party on Friday paid tribute to the memory of Karin Grech on the eve of the forty-seventh anniversary of her gruesome murder.
Prime Minister Robert Abela led Labour Party administration officials and Labour MPs who laid flowers on her memorial in San Ġwann.
Abela stated that this annual ceremony is held to commemorate the dear memory of this girl who was killed because of hatred. He stressed that hatred should never enter our country because it destroys serenity, prosperity and peace and we as a country must always remain united in favour of peace and against division. He added that we should work on the values of peace and respect to continue strengthening our society.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the memory of Karin Grech's father, Professor Edwin Grech, stressing that during his life he made great sacrifices and paid with the murder of his beloved daughter. He added that politics should serve to improve people's lives and therefore acts of hatred such as character assassination with unjust, vile attacks should not be tolerated.
Abela concluded by saying that we must be the promoters of dialogue and the shield of justice and in the face of the injustice done to Karin Grech we must remain firm and send a strong message that no one should escape justice.
