Robert Abela favours inner circle but is stingy with MCAST lecturers, PN says

Robert Abela continues to expose how skewed his priorities are - while he has no issue with those around him grabbing and hoarding as they please, he is penny-pinching when it comes to the educators of our children, the Nationalist Party said Monday.

In a statement, the PON said it regretted that, for the Prime Minister, MCAST remains a second-class institution. The Prime Minister's comments today towards MCAST lecturers are an insult to education in our country.

Today, the Prime Minister confirmed that for him, MCAST, its lecturers, and its students are unimportant, as he continues to belittle them.

Meanwhile, MCAST students remain caught in the middle of an industrial dispute after the MUT was compelled to issue a series of directives to stand firm against the Government.

A Labour Government has been dragging its feet for nearly three years to revise a collective agreement that has already expired.

For the PN, education has always come first. It was, after all, a Nationalist Government that established MCAST after a Labour Government had shut it down.

The PN once again called on the Government to get its priorities in order and place the interests of all those affected by the MCAST crisis above its own and those of the Labour Party.

Every day that passes without a resolution brings with it serious and irreparable repercussions.

"Educators are not asking for €70,000 for a phantom job. All they are requesting is what they rightfully deserve as the educators of our children," the PN said.
