Floriana and Sliema Wanderers shared the spoils in an entertaining match played at the Tony Bezzina Stadium. Though the match produced no goals both teams had their fair chances. A result which gives leaders Birkirkara to increase their lead if they manage to beat Naxxar Lions.
This was a match between the most two successful teams on the island, winning 26 leagues each. Sliema were the most dangerous all throughout especially in the first forty five minutes.
After five minutes Awad took the ball off Vella but his conclusion ended wide off the mark. Play was restricted to the midfield area for long stretches and on the half hour it was once again Awad who tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the area which missed the target.
Seven minutes from the end of the first half a Steve Pisani free kick hit the upright.
Just past the hour mark it was once again the Blues who threatened with Plut finding Wesley with his volley from outside the area ending inches wide. And a few minutes later the same player had a fierce strike which was turned into a corner by the Greens goalkeeper Mafoumbi.
In the 70th minute on the other end Fernandinho made his way into the opposing area only for his shot to sail over the bar.
Both coaches made a number of substitions, introducing fresh legs in order to give a final push. But till the end neither team set any bushes on fire with both teams taking a point each.
