Police who stopped motorist for using his phone find cocaine in his car
Man stopped by the police for using his phone while driving arrested after he is found in possession of cocaine and with an expired licence
A 28-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay has been arrested for being caught with cocaine while being stopped by the police for using his phone while driving.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon in Triq il-Port Ruman, St Paul's Bay.
The police said patrolling officers notice the 28-year-old motorist using his phone while driving. When he was stopped, the driver was also found to be driving without a valid driving licence.
After he started acting suspiciously, the officers searched his car, and the cocaine and an amount of cash was found.
The accused will appear before Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit later on Monday.
