The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the Chamber of Architects (KTP) reached an agreement with regards to a revised process for approving works related to dangerous structures.

In a statement on Monday, the BCA explained the new process for an architect to receive clearance from the authority for the works to be carried out.

The process is now as follows: once the Planning Authority (PA) approves the works, the architect responsible for those works must send a communication to the BCA via email at dangerousstructure@bca.org.mt, which should include the site responsibility form (both full and summary) and the insurance policy.

Once this email is sent, the architect will automatically receive clearance from the BCA for the work.

"This is being done because work involving dangerous structures is considered urgent, and therefore the BCA is allowing such works to proceed immediately," the statement read.

The BCA is also requesting that once the architect receives the clearance, they upload it in PDF form to the Eapps portal along with the responsibility forms and insurance.

"The BCA is not only continuing to strengthen the service offered to the public, but is also improving dialogue with stakeholders in the construction industry. This is being done not only with the aim to continue raising standards in the sector, but also to enhance efficiency in processes," the authority said.

This procedure was implemented as of Monday, 9 September,2024. For more information, visit the website www.bca.org.mt.
