ADPD- The Green Party called on the Prime Minister to take immediate action against Chris Fearne and Edward Scicluna following a court ruling saying there was enough prima facie evidence for them to stand trial in connection with the hospitals’ deal.
The ADPD said that the Courts’ decision for the indictment of Fearne, Edward Scicluna and others, including public officials, is very serious. It said that it is now inevitable that the people accused have either to resign or be dismissed.
The ADPD said that this primarily applies to Edward Scicluna, the Governor of the Central Bank and high public officers that stand accused. It said that it is essential that the Prime Minister acts immediately.
It added that this also applies to Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna who must immediately revoke the Curia’s appointment of Alfred Camilleri, the ex-permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance, who is currently in charge of the Curia’s finances.
Chairperson of the ADPD, Sandra Gauci said, “What has just been issued by the Maltese Courts is serious and a cause for concern. All the named officials must be suspended or forced to resign. What is the Prime Minister going to do? Is Edward Scicluna going to continue leading the Central Bank? Scicluna’s position is also not tenable since he is on the Governing Council of the European Central Bank. That Scicluna is not taking this seriously is damaging to the country’s reputation. He must be removed immediately.”
