The van used to drive Dar Bjorn patients to hospital appointments and other personal matters was rammed and destroyed in a hit-and-run which took place on Monday night.

This was revealed by the founder of Dar Bjorn and ALS Malta, Bjorn Formosa, on Tuesday morning. He said that the culprit remains unknown and that the incident took place in Qormi.

He said that the van was parked properly, but that this did not stop someone from ramming into it and heading off. Formosa said that for many, this van was a representation of liberty as it gave them the ability to go places when their condition may have made it otherwise very difficult to do so.

Having said that, Formosa expressed that he hopes that whoever rammed into the van was not injured in doing so. He added that they are forgiven, despite their identity being unknown.

The founder of ALS Malta concluded by asking for donations which would go towards the purchasing of a new van. He said that any contributions would be greatly appreciated, and that any amount helps.
