Carbone named new director of Inland Revenue Agency
To replace resigning Ernesto Maria Ruffini as of Jan '26
Vincenzo Carbone was named new
director of the Inland Revenue Agency on Monday, replacing
resigning Ernesto Maria Ruffini, who will end his term in
January 2026.
Giorgia Meloni's cabinet gave the nod to Carbone.
Ruffini recently tendered his resignation and subsequently
denied suggestions he might serve as a 'federator' for Italy's
divided centre.
Handing in his resignation, he complained that the tax agency
has been "demonized" by attacks from politicians.
Ruffini denied immediate speculation that he intended to enter
the political world, and bring together the centrist opposition
parties, while stating he had "the right to speak".
