Italy orders up to 24 Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft
7.47 billion program. Leonardo, assembly-deliveries too
Eurofighter and NETMA (the 'NATO
Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency') signed Monday in
Rome a contract to acquire up to 24 Eurofighter aircraft for the
Italian Air Force.
For Leonardo, the Italian partner of the consortium, the
industrial return for the Eurofighter program reaches up to 36%
if we consider not only the aircraft but also the electronics
part.
As part of this contract, Leonardo will also be responsible for
the final assembly of the aircraft and delivery to the Italian
Air Force as well as for logistics support activities.
As it emerged at the time of the green light from the
parliamentary defence committees to the ministerial decree, the
overall economic commitment for the program (2024-2034) of the
24 new fighters and for logistical support is 7.47 billion
euros.
