Paolini's Italy beats Slovakia to clinch BJ King Cup
Fifth victory for the Azzurre
Italy late Wednesday won the 2024
edition of the Billie Jean King Cup as Jasmine Paolini beat
Rebecca Sramkova to clinch a dominant 2-0 victory over Slovakia
in Malaga, Spain.
It was the fifth victory for the Azzurre, led by captain
Tathiana Garbin.
World number four Paolini won 6-2, 6-1 in the second singles
rubber to follow up Lucia Bronzetti's 6-2, 6-4 victory against
Viktoria Hruncakova.
The win came after a fulfilling year for Paolini who finished as
runner-up at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
