Expo 2025 Osaka signs agreement with Confartigianato
To promote artisan excellence, 'a natural partner'
The General Commissariat for Italy at
Expo 2025 Osaka and Confartigianato have signed a memorandum of
understanding to promote artisan excellence at the Universal
Exhibition.
The agreement aims to enhance one of the country's economic
engines, encouraging the participation of the Italian
entrepreneurial system at Expo 2025 Osaka, in particular
artisans and small and medium-sized enterprises present or with
a strong strategic interest in the Asia-Pacific area, through
the exhibition of works, the creation of workshops and
participation in networking events, with the aim of improving
accessibility to the international market.
Strategic innovative projects and practices will be identified,
promoting exchanges of knowledge between Italian and Japanese
artisans and designers, to develop collaborations that enhance
artisan excellence and sustainable design. Furthermore, the
communication of Italian initiatives linked to the Expo will be
promoted at a national and international level.
"Very pleased with the signing of this important agreement with
President Granelli," said Ambassador Mario Vattani, Commissioner
General for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka.
"Considering the central role attributed to Italian know-how in
the exhibition itinerary of our Pavilion at Expo 2025,
Confartigianato is our natural partner to bring to Osaka a broad
and updated account of our 'artisan intelligence'.
"Today, craftsmanship is expressed not only in the ability to
combine tradition and contemporary creativity, but also in
research into new materials and innovation.
"Together, we will address important issues at Expo, such as the
challenge of bringing new generations closer to a sector that is
so fundamental to our economy."
For the President of Confartigianato Marco Granelli "with the
participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, an opportunity for which we
are grateful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
International Cooperation, we want to highlight the leading role
of craftsmanship and small businesses - over 4 million
companies, equal to 99.4% of the total - in representing the
excellence of Made in Italy in the world where they export
products for a value of 172 billion euros.
"As part of Expo 2025, in addition to seizing opportunities for
internationalization and access to the Japanese market for our
companies, we will promote artisan intelligence, which is a
synthesis of tradition and manufacturing quality, creativity,
technological innovation, sustainability and training and
employment opportunities for young people.
"The excellence of our entrepreneurs will be at the center of
"BENFATTO", an original project of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and International Cooperation, created with the
collaboration of Confartigianato Imprese, which includes the
exhibition of works and artifacts, together with experiential
videos and textual and multimedia stories".
Expo 2025 will be held in Osaka from April 13 to October 13,
2025, under the theme "Designing future society for our lives."
Italy will be presenting a Pavilion designed by architect Mario
Cucinella with the slogan "Art regenerates life."
