Italian tennis great Nicola
Pietrangeli said he had lost a sister after Lea Pericoli died
Friday.
"She was a sister to me and a life partner. Words aren't enough
to describe what I feel", the 91-year-old two-time French Open
champ told ANSA, his voice breaking down on the phone, after
Pericoli's death aged 89.
"The last time we saw each other was last year at the (ATP)
Finals in Turin.
"Then Lea was a bit withdrawn. I'm suffering because I won't
even be able to go to the funeral.
"I will be criticized but I hope people understand".
