Nicky Henderson says he would like to bring Constitution Hill to Punchestown this year for what would be the superstar's first ever run under rules outside England.

The eight-year-old finished second in a point-to-point in Tipperary in April 2021 and he could return to these shores four years later for the Punchestown Festival.

Currently a best price of 5/6 for the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, Constitution Hill is unbeaten in nine starts since joining Henderson.

"I think both of us (him and owner Michael Buckley) would probably like to go to Ireland after Cheltenham," he told Sky Sports Racing. Punchestown were quick to respond to the comments, saying they would be delighted to welcome Henderson and Constitution Hill to their big meeting of the year.

The racecourse tweeted: "It goes without saying that we would love to welcome Constitution Hill to Punchestown and we wish connections the very best for the remainder of the season and beyond. Nicky Henderson and Michael Buckley are great friends of the show and wonderful supporters of the Punchestown Festival. Think we all deserve it at this stage!"

And while some racing fans have their doubts about Constitution Hill showing up at Punchestown, the prospect of him running at the Co Kildare venue has many excited.

One wrote: "We would love to have him in Ireland. Take on our best over here besides over there for a change."

Another commented: "He brought sprinter to Ireland. I can see him showing up as he didn't look bombproof over 2m 4f at Aintree a couple years ago and he's not as good now as he was that season."

Someone else said: "I’ve always felt Punchestown is very likely all being well as I don’t believe they want to run him over 2M 4f again."
