RTE Late Late Show viewers all saying same thing about 'brilliant' TradFest special
The Late Late Show returned for the first time in 2025, kicking things off with a TradFest special to showcase the best of Ireland’s established and emerging musical talents, and viewers loved it
RTÉ viewers were all saying the same thing about the TradFest special, praising the “brilliant showcase of talent” for 45 minutes of “perfect tv”.
The season returned with a bang as Patrick Kielty delivered a jam packed TradFest special, playing host to a wealth of Ireland’s best established and emerging musical talents.
The special featured folk singer songwriter Aoife Scott, musician Wallis Bird, singer songwriter Mike Hanrahan and sean-nós singer Seán Keane alongside Mundy, Laois folk artist Molly Donnery, and more.

Featuring a string of musical numbers from the cast of artists, the special went down a treat with viewers who praised the segment, especially the stunning rendition of Caledonia, and the touching tribute to Johnny Duhan, who sadly died in November.
A Late Late fan shared: “We've just had 45 minutes (not nearly enough) of perfect tv with Tradfest on the Late Late. The world is a better place. More and more and more, please.”
A second shared: “What a brilliant showcase of talent on the LateLate now… Mundy bang on the money about protecting the seisiún ceoil also! True talent on stage there! Well done all.”
One impressed viewer penned: “There should be a TradFest every week!”
Another wrote: “Mighty seisiún to kick off the show”. The same impressed viewer later added: “Banging out the good tune on the banjo”.
While one more viewer reminisced: “25 odd years since I last played the Bodhrán and the Uileann pipes but can still remember every beat like it was yesterday watching tonight”.
Drawing focus on Aoife Scott’s stunning rendition of Caledonia, a viewer said: "Caledonia is without a doubt one of the greatest songs of all time.”
“Showed off the engagement ring before singing a lovely version of Catalonia,” another shared, alongside some pictures of Aoife.
