Kyran Durnin 'decoy child' looked nothing like him - as more arrests expected
A child with different coloured hair was brought to two Tusla meetings
The child used as a 'decoy' in the Kyran Durnin case looked nothing like him, we can reveal.
It is understood the youngster is around the same age as him but has completely different coloured hair and wears glasses all the time. The youngster was brought to two meetings with Tusla social workers who were concerned about Kyran's whereabouts.
But now it has emerged that it was Gardai who realised that the decoy child was not Kyran and raised the alarm.
A report was subsequently made by a relative of Kyran that he was missing with his mother and then Gardai several weeks later launched a full scale murder inquiry. The man alleged to have let the "decoy" child be brought to the Tulsa meetings is now dead, but he had denied any knowledge or involvement in the "ruse".
He claimed the child was on a " playdate" with Kyran's siblings when he was said to have been used as a decoy.

A Garda source said; "The child that was used as a decoy looked nothing like Kyran. When we got a proper description of him we realised it was not him and raised the alarm.
"It didn't take us long to discover the real identity of this child and then we realised that Kyran was missing and something serious had happened."
Gardai are continuing to follow a number of leads in relation to the missing youngster as they try to establish where he is buried. Officers are satisfied that Kyran was killed in June 2022 over two and a half years ago.
One of the two main suspects in the case has moved full time back into her home in Drogheda and has tried to reconnect with her neighbours. However many are refusing to speak to her and giving her the cold shoulder.
Gardai are hoping to make more arrests in the coming weeks and to begin new searches in the Drogheda area for Kyran.
