Irish model Tiffany Stanley describes 'apocalyptic scenes' as she prepares to evacuate Hollywood Hills home
At least five people have died and thousands have lost their homes as wildfires are ravaging the state of California
Irish model Tiffany Stanley said Los Angeles is “apocalyptic” as she prepares to evacuate her California home. At least five people have died and thousands have lost their homes as wildfires are ravaging the state.
Over 180,000 residents have been given evacuation orders. Kildare native Tiffany, who moved to LA over a decade ago, fears she will lose her home in the Hollywood Hills. On Wednesday, she could see massive flames from her window as a fire engulfed Runyon Canyon.
She told the Irish Mirror: “The fire was literally just one road across from the house. The flames looked like they were the height of a building, it was insane and the air was so heavy and smelly. It was like toxic chemicals.

“It was put out but there’s fires popping up all over the place. It seems like the wild west where a fire is popping up and it’s out of control within minutes. It’s mayhem, there’s an apocalyptic feel to it.”
Tiffany, 37, and her husband Garret Thomas are ready to evacuate their home with their two dogs but are holding out until they are officially advised to. The model said: “We got a Government text to prepare to evacuate so we packed our bags.
"I have gathered my passport, ID, and clothes and I’ve gotten the dogs ready. I took some mementos from my mum and grandparents because they have passed away. Today, we might have to evacuate.
“We went to check on our elderly neighbour, she is 83, we are going to take her with us if we have to evacuate. Most people on our street did evacuate, except our neighbour, because we didn’t get the final text to go yet, but we have packed everything in case.
“I am the type to wait and see because I don’t panic easily, but friends and family were blowing us up saying we have to leave now but we felt, let’s wait and see. [The fire is] really bad and if it comes any closer we will have to leave because it’s visible from our house.”
Tiffany said they are currently hunkering down in their home as it’s too dangerous to go outside. She added: “We are trying to stay in because the air is so bad, it makes your eyes burn red because the fire debris is floating through the air. We are inside right now but it is still awful, we are coughing because there’s no fresh air. This morning, the air of the city is like black smoke with this crazy cloud all over it.”
The owner of tanning brand Malibu Bronze said that despite living in the US for over a decade now, she would consider moving home due to the natural disaster. She said: “It definitely would [make me want to move home] because the climate here is getting really bizarre. There’s been no water, no internet, I don’t understand.
“We have no water to put out these fires and half of LA is gone. It’s insane, people are going crazy out here, people are scrambling to make sense of this.”
