Conor McGregor attended his uncle's funeral in Dublin on Monday after returing to Ireland from Dubai, where he spent Christmas and rang in the new year.

The MMA fighter was seen at a mass for his uncle John ‘Johnny’ Moore, who passed away on New Year's Day. John's sister is McGregor's mother Margaret, who also flew back from the Middle East with her son having spent time with himself and Dee Devlin in Dubai over the festive period.

John died peacefully on New Year’s Day at Our Lady’s Hospice in Harold’s Cross. Paying tribute to him online, McGregor wrote: “RIP Uncle Johnny. Cool as it gets. Kru John Moore, RIP my fighting uncle.”

John is survived by his children Sueann, Jonathan, Robyn and Odhran, grandchildren Leon and Rowan, sisters Mary, Margaret, Catherine and Samantha, and brothers Christy, Joe and Jake.

A number of tributes have been paid to him following his death. Corinthians Boxing Club posted online: “Rest in peace Jonny. From everyone in Corinthians boxing club.”

Ringsend Karate Club commented: “Rest in peace. Thank you for all you have done for karate. Skill lasts a lifetime.”

McGregor's appearance at the funeral comes days after he teased a potential $250million payday by stepping into the ring to fight Logan Paul later this year.

Last month, McGregor claimed talks were ongoing to stage a fight between himself and Paul in India. He wrote on X: "The rumours of a bout with Topuria are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon."

The former two-weight UFC champion has not fought since suffering a broken leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier over three and a half years ago. He has won just one fight in eight years.

McGregor was scheduled to face Michael Chandler last June, having coached against the American on The Ultimate Fighter the previous year. But he was forced to withdraw from the fight after breaking a toe in training.

India's Ambani family are understood to be working on a return for McGregor against one of the Paul brothers. The proposed bout would take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Taking to X over the weekend, McGregor posted a photo of WWE star Paul during a wrestling appearance, captioning it: $250,000,000. #ImComing,” along with an emoji of the Indian flag.
