Ambitious Athlone Town announce signing of Bohemians and former Dundee man
League of Ireland First Division side Athlone Town have made their fourth winter signing from the Premier Division.
Athlone Town have snapped up midfielder Declan McDaid from Premier Division side Bohemians - their fourth top-flight recruit of the close-season.
The ambitious First Division outfit announced the capture of the former Partick Thistle, Dundee and Falkirk man on Sunday morning.
Posting on social media, the club wrote: “Declan McDaid is the latest recruit to Dario (Castelo)’s 2025 squad.

“Declan, a left sided midfielder, has been playing for Bohemian FC since July 2022 having transferred in from Dundee United
“He quickly established himself as a regular in the squad for Bohs and played in 72 Premier Division games and scored six along with two goals in his nine FAI Cup appearances during his stint at Dalymount.

Athlone have already added former Shelbourne full-back John Ross Wilson, who was last with Sligo Rovers, striker Dean Williams from League of Ireland champions Shels, and Waterford’s Matthew Connor.
Other recent signings include Cole Omorehiomwan from Bray Wanderers, Noe Baba from Finn Harps, and former Longford Town trio Kyle O’Connor, Adam Wixted and Bastien Hery.
