Customers of a beloved Dublin pub that announced it was shutting its doors have shared their “great memories” of the drinking spot ahead of its closure.

The Living Room, located just off O'Connell Street on Cathal Brugha Street, confirmed in a statement on Thursday it will shut its doors for good this Monday (January 6). However the team has vowed it will be back, teasing an exciting new chapter which will be announced soon.

News of the closure reverberated around the capital, with people flocking to share their good memories of the pub as they lauded The Living Room for its amazing atmosphere, incredible beer garden, great vibes, and cheap beer and pizza.

One person shared on social media following the closure: “Was like the first places I’ve been to when I moved there in 2006, and living in the hostel nearby. Left Ireland 10 years already. Great memories”.

Another penned: “Hugely popular but not popular enough”.

The pub has been hugely popular over the years, as evidenced by reviews left on Tripadvisor.

A customer said: “As the title suggests, this is the place to be if you're over in Dublin and looking for somewhere to watch sports and have a drink."

Another wrote: “Hundreds of screens including a few really big ones, covering pretty much every live sport imaginable. We were there on a Saturday afternoon whilst the football was on, the atmosphere was amazing.”

Someone else added: “Stayed close by so this was our nearest ‘party’ bar. Great atmosphere, pizzas brill and reasonably priced Guinness. All in all would recommend you visit as music later in evening for those wanting to stagger about and strut their stuff. Very relaxed vibe despite being a very large venue. No hassle just enjoy the sport and vibe”.

“The place is massive and the bar staff are insanely quick at getting everyone sorted,” one more person shared.

Another review reads: “TV screens everywhere showing 4/5 different sports at once and it's was ridiculously cheap prepared to other bars in the area, €20 for a 3 pint pitcher! Had a pizza from the place in the garden as well and that was incredible. The atmosphere was electric the whole time as the place was packed.”
