Nostradamus, one of the world’s most famous astrologers and philosophers, has long been credited with foreseeing significant global events. But as we enter 2025, what did he predict for the year ahead?
Before his death in 1566, Nostradamus made some chilling prophecies in his 16th-century book Les Propheties. His followers claim he predicted landmark events such as the Great Fire of London, the rise of Adolf Hitler and more recently, the Covid pandemic, the cost of living crisis and even the death of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II.
However, skeptics argue that his cryptic writings can be interpreted in numerous ways. Regardless of belief, Nostradamus’ predictions for 2025 are still eye-catching.
Michel de Nostredame, the prophet’s real name, made over 900 predictions using astrological charts. Among these, some experts believe he foresaw a year of widespread catastrophe and war in 2025. The French philosopher ominously warned that “those from the lands of Europe” would be caught in “cruel wars,” with our neighbours in the UK likely to be involved.

He also said that “the ancient plague will be worse than enemies,” hinting at the possibility of another devastating global outbreak.
Nostradamus predicted that the Russia - Ukraine conflict might come to an end due to “the exhaustion of both armies.” Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, he foresaw volcanic eruptions and catastrophic flooding striking Brazil, Mirror UK reports.
Nostradamus wasn’t the only one to anticipate a dark year ahead. Baba Vanga, the Bulgarian mystic who passed away in 1996, also predicted turmoil in 2025. Though centuries apart, both Nostradamus and Baba Vanga shared eerily similar visions for this year, with both believing Europe would be at the heart of a massive crisis. Baba Vanga, who famously predicted the 9/11 attacks and Brexit, also warned of a new war erupting between two European countries. She believed the conflict would have global repercussions.
Baba's visions didn’t stop there. She predicted the arrival of aliens in 2025 and claimed that telepathy would be perfected. Her recent predictions, such as the solar storm of December 2023 and her forecast of an economic crisis in 2024 have given some of her followers pause for thought.
However, not everyone takes Baba’s predictions seriously. On X (formerly Twitter), one user dismissed her warnings, claiming she never said that the end of humanity would start in 2025, and suggested that if she were a true prophet, she would have predicted it for the year 5000.
Another disagreed, calling Baba Vanga a "true mystic" who "never said years in her predictions".
