Forgotten Ireland striker sends timely reminder to Heimir Hallgrimsson
Robinson scored both goals in Cardiff City's Championship win away to Waterford today
Ireland striker Callum Robinson sent a timely reminder to Heimir Hallgrimsson after firing Cardiff City to a precious win.
Robinson scored twice as third bottom Cardiff bagged their first away victory of the season and ended Watford’s unbeaten home run with a 2-1 win at Vicarage Road.
It saw the 29-year-old finish the calendar year on a high after taking his goal tally to eight in 19 Championship appearances this season. And Robinson will hope that Ireland boss Hallgrimsson takes note having dropped the forward from Ireland squads of late.

Watford boss Tom Cleverley said today: “Callum is the best finisher we’ve got at the club, he’s a great finisher period, he hasn’t played the last few games because I’ve given him a rest."
For Ireland, Robinson played six minutes as a sub in the home defeat to Greece in September but was not in the squad in October and November for either of the games against Finland, Greece again and England.
Matt Doherty, Alan Browne and Jake O’Brien were also omitted for the October away double header against Finland and Greece.
And speaking at the time, Hallgrimsson said: “We wanted to see other players. It's just a rule from FIFA that we can only pick 23 players (in the match day squad). If we want to see others, someone needs to drop out. There's no other reason, they all performed pretty good last camp.
“All of them want to play and are eager to play for Ireland. It was a similar reaction from all of them. That’s a good thing that they really, really want to come and play for us.”
Robinson will hope to continue his good form into 2025, with Hallgrimsson running the rule over all of his options ahead of the Nations League playoff with Bulgaria in March.
