Mark Allen bags impressive prizemoney following win at high-paying Saudi Arabian event
It’s been a challenging season for the Antrim star.
Antrim snooker ace Mark Allen secured the joint largest payday of his career with a triumph at the lucrative Riyadh Season Snooker Championship.
It’s been a challenging season for Allen, as he’s struggled to find consistent form. The departure of his former mentor, Terry Griffiths, has also had a significant impact on him.
However, the year has concluded on an incredible high, with Allen pocketing a remarkable £250,000 (€300,000) after defeating former world champion Luca Brecel 5-1 in the Saudi Arabian desert.

Allen pocketed that tidy Christmas bonus which matched the cheque for winning the UK Championship two years ago. But he insisted that the money was far from his mind.
“I’m not going to lie, the money’s great and we all have bills to pay and stuff like that. But I promise you, I wasn’t thinking about the money at all.
"During the presentation they said Luca won £125,000 (€150,000) as runner-up and I thought it was £100,000 (€120,500), so that shows I’m not focused on the money.
“I just want to win tournaments and if I keep winning titles then the money will take care of itself.”
