Ferguson has been linked to Nottingham Forest and Leicester City in recent weeks, but now The Independent are reporting that Fulham have stepped up their interest.
The London club would like to take the Ireland striker on loan for the rest of the season.
Ferguson has only scored one goal this season for Brighton and has primarily been used as a substitute for the Seagulls.
Mexican striker Raul Jimenez has led Fulham's attack this year. Marco Silva's side are in eighth place in the league and tied on points with Brighton.
