Social Welfare Ireland: The five major groups who won't receive payment increases in the New Year
Recipients of 29 social welfare payments are in line for an increase kicking in within weeks - however, a number of people are not eligible for the rise in payment rate
A number of measures providing additional benefits to large swathes of the population in Ireland have come into effect since Budget 2025 was announced back in October.
These include items such as the cost-of-living bonus, an electricity credit, a pre-Christmas double child benefit payment and more.
A major change that will come into effect from the start of next year is an increase to core weekly social welfare rates, but five major groups will not see any increase in their rates of payment, reports RSVP Live.

All other weekly social welfare payments will increase by €12 with proportional increases for qualified adults and people on reduced rates of payment.
The list of social welfare payments that will be increased are as follows:
- State Pension (Contributory)
- State Pension (Non-Contributory)

All family sizes will benefit from a €60 weekly increase in the The Working Family Payment income limits and next July, the Carer's Allowance income disregard will increase to €625 for a single person and €1,250 for a couple.
