Today FM's Dave Moore has recounted a hilarious story where he was manhandled by Alex Ferguson after jubilant scenes following a Gary Neville goal.

Moore popped by for a chat on Off The Ball AM on Thursday morning, where he discussed all things sports and his career.

And Manchester United fan Moore spoke about a visit to Old Trafford in the Fergie days that saw him get a little bit too close to the manager.

Discussing in the studio, he said of the day: "This was mindblowing. I'm looking down one row, and (Roy) Keane is on the bench, and (Ryan) Giggs is on the bench. And then Sir Alex Ferguson walks up, and he's signing people's programmes and whatever, and all the fans are at the side.

"And I had my programme sitting there, and as he got around, he turned and saw it sitting there,e so he held it up to sign it, and I had no marker because I didn't know I was going to see Alex Ferguson so I was like 'I don't have a pen' so he reached over and got a kid's marker and signed by programme."

But the fun with Fergie didn't stop there as Moore remembered how he celebrated a goal with the Red Devils manager.

"David Bellion took a run through literally acres of space, he went on a diagonal run and fed the ball to Gary Neville and he scored one of the seven goals he scored in his career.

"What happens next sounds like a lie, but I swear that it's not. The bench went mental. There was no one there, and when Gary Neville scored, he turned and stood around, and I was the nearest person to him. He grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and screamed into my face. This was 2004, and I had no smartphone; I had a digital camera somewhere in my pocket, and he was like, 'OH MY GOD, GARY NEVILLE!'

"He reefed the jersey off me, I had a United jersey on me."
